Welcome to the first episode of Vacuum News from Vacuum Wars where I will discuss the latest vacuum cleaner news and the latest releases from various vacuum manufactures. If you like this format be sure to let me know by liking or subscribing and Ill be sure to make this a regular feature.
First up is the latest news from the ongoing Dyson and SharkNinja feuds.
CityAm.com reports that Shark has taken yet another top executive from Dyson in its effort to increase its market shark in the Uk.
This time it is Matt Broadway, Dyson's former group commercial director.
Shark who is already the top upright vacuum company in the US, passing Dyson several years ago is aiming to increase its market shark significantly in the UK by 25% in the next 12 month.
Matt Broadyway was quoted as saying “We aim to become the UK market leader in vacuum cleaner products and are investing heavily in engineering and technology so we can give consumers a real choice of premium products specifically designed for British homes.”
Dyson, who recently confirmed that it will be developing electric cars with driverless elements has also inferred that it will no longer be developing new corded vacuums in the promotional material for the v10 cordless vacuum. We have yet to confirm what that means for the future of Dyson vacuums but I hope to interview someone from Dyson in future episodes about this topic.
Next we have a report from Barrons.com that Irobot the manufacturer of Roomba robot vacuums stock fell 6% on rumors that Amazon is poised to launch its new line of Robotic servants which will be operated by Amazon Alexa systems.
There is probably not much to this, as a similar story was reported last year about Irobot’s stock falling but that time it was on news that Shark was also getting into the robot vacuum market with its ion robot line. But it is true that Irobot’s stock has fallen significantly from its July 2017 high mark of $109. Irobot’s stock was at 61.87 as of yesterdays closing.
Alright so lets take a look at recently released and upcoming vacuum products.
Last month Bissell released its upgraded version of their super popular multi surface cleaner called the Crosswave pet pro which adds a new tangle free brush roll, a hair strainer for the holding tank and a longer 3 year warranty.
We did a comparison video of the differences between the regular Crosswave and the pet pro version which I will link in the description.
Finally we have news that a subsidiary of the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi called Roidmi is almost ready to ship its new cordless vacuum to the US.
The F8 cordless vacuum claims to have similar specs as the Dyson V8 but comes at the significantly lower price of $259.

It claims to have 100,000 rpm with 115 watts of suction and 55 minutes of battery life on low power and 10 minutes on high power.
Xiaomi robot vacuums are widely considered to be some of the top robot vacuums and it will be interesting to see how the F8 stacks up against the competition. I will be sure to get one for tests and reviews as soon as they are available.
You can preorder them via their indegogo site which I will link below.
