I see a lot of people asking the question can the Bissell Crosswave be used for carpet.
It’s a little confusing since the promotional material says that it can be used for “area rugs” but doesn’t mention carpet specifically.
I called Bissell to find out for sure, but our tests for our review of the Crosswave showed that as a dry vacuum the Bissell Crosswave performed amazingly well on our test carpet, picking up debris better than most standard vacuums on the market.
So the answer from Bissell is a yes and no, it shouldn’t be used as a wet vacuum or carpet cleaner on carpet, but as a dry vacuum they say it can be used for low pile carpet.
I actually think as a purely dry vacuum the Bissell Crosswave out preforms most premium vacuums, and does so while being much lighter than most of them too at only 11lbs.
We tested the Crosswave on medium pile carpet and it worked great, The reason I think they say it is only for low pile carpet is because it could get bogged down with very long or thick carpet and the motor could struggle a bit.
So yes as a regular dry vacuum the Bissell Crosswave is an amazing machine, but as a wet vacuum it should just be used on hard floors.
